    Week Beginning 18.12.17

We have had another magical week at The Hayes where our children have once again shone like stars.

On Monday, a full hall of children had breakfast with Santa who was joined by a snowman, Rudolph and a Minion. It was fabulously organised and the children had grins from ear to ear, not bad for so early in the morning! Thank you to the PTA for organising this and the helpers who helped on the day.

Wednesday saw our Year 6 Drama club and KS2 choir perform the Amazing Advent Calendar. The children put on a stunning performance, stand aside the West End because Y6 are going to be knocking on your door! The KS2 choir were also fantastic, you are all stars. A big thank you to all of the staff involved.

Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas dinner took place on Friday, a perfect combination. The dinner was very tasty and it was great for the class teachers, Miss Slade, Ms Saunders and our children to all eat together, singing songs and getting into good cheer. There will be photos of the above events on the website over the holidays, there are many to choose from! Additionally, the staff stayed behind on Friday night to watch a Christmas film and eat healthy food. That was also great fun!

    Next week:

Monday – KS2 sing to parents on the playground from 3:05pm.

Tuesday – class parties: please ensure that the food your child brings to school does not contain any nuts. In the afternoon, EYFS and KS1 have a magician show whilst KS2 have a pantomime in the hall. We are looking forward to this!

Wednesday –last day of term and dress up day (we are not collecting for any charities). Anything Christmassy is good for dress up half-day (Christmas costume, tinsel, hats, etc).

We finish school at 1.30pm, so after school club will not run on this day. Mrs Hunter will be on the playground from 1:30pm to say goodbye to you all. There will be some mince pies and hot chocolate to warm you up!

    Sad goodbyes:

As you know, Mrs Hunter is leaving after 16 years at The Hayes. This has been a very difficult decision for her as she moves on to work in her family business and to spend time with her grandchild-to-be. Audrey has been a massive asset to our school and I know she will be truly missed by all of the staff, parents and children. We wish her all the best in her new adventure and look forward to her coming back for visits soon.

Mrs Smith our Year 3 teacher is sadly leaving to go travelling around the world early in January. She has settled in fantastically at The Hayes and we will miss her greatly. This is an exciting opportunity for Kayleigh and know she will keep Class 5 up to date with where she is in the world. We wish her good luck on her travels and will hopefully see her again on her return.

Miss Wadham is leaving after 7 year as a Teaching Assistant, she will be thoroughly missed. We thank her for all her hard work over the years, I know she is sad to be leaving but is looking forward to the challenge of a new position at a local Special School. We wish her all the best.

Finally, Mrs Doble has recently resigned from Chair of the PTA. Mrs Doble has been Chair of the PTA for seven years and in those years has worked tirelessly with the PTA team to raise over £125k for our school. We will be saying a huge ‘thank you’ to Mrs Doble early next half term, this for the sheer extent of time and passion and commitment she has given to our school, she is a star. More to follow.

Wednesday: school closes at 1:30pm and re-opens on Thursday 4th January 2018.

We wish you all a relaxing holiday a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

    Please stay safe.

    From The Hayes Team.

    Week beginning 11.12.17
It has been a truly amazing theatrical week at the Hayes and we are sure that all parents/careers, grandparents and family members who attended our performances will agree.

On Monday, our Reception children performed `Wriggly Nativity', it was a magical event and the children were fantastic. On Wednesday and Friday afternoon our KS1 pupils performed `Present for the Baby'. Again, our children were remarkable, their singing, narrating and singing was first classed. We have such talented children at The Hayes. Many thanks to our staff also, without whom, these great events could not have taken place.

On Tuesday, our Reception children attended a Superheroes workshop to support their topic which they thoroughly enjoyed. On Thursday, our Year 5 and 6 children attended the CSMA Christmas concert at the Minster where some pupils from our drama group preformed the tableaux of the Christmas story. They were stunning and the service was very poignant. There are photos of this event and the EYFS and KS1 musicals on our Twitter account. Miss Slade will put photos up of the events on our website over the Christmas break.

Thank you to the PTA who put on the Elfridges Christmas fayre after school on Friday, I hope you all had an opportunity to buy your last minute bits.

    Important information:
There will be no Lexia or booster classes week beginning 18th December.

Unfortunately it has come to our attention that photos taken during the Reception performance have been posted to social media that contain images of other children. Can you please check any posts you may have made and if there are other children in the shots, please take them down as permission has not been sought from other parents and they do not agree for them to be published. Thank you in advance for supporting this safeguarding request.

Thank you to those of you who continue to park considerately and respectfully by not obstructing our neighbours' driveways. Please may we remind the very small minority of inconsiderate drivers to refrain from causing upset amongst our local residents by blocking their driveways. Residents are now taking down number plates and calling the Police, so you have been warned..... many thanks.

Here's to a successful and happy end of term with learning, fun and frivolity!

We hope you have had a great weekend.

    Week beginning 4.12.17

What another busy and fun week we have had at The Hayes. On Monday and Tuesday, Reception children took part in the balance bikes workshop. The smiles on their faces said it all, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

On Wednesday we welcomed 90+ parents to our 'new reception parents open morning' where parents are looking for EYFS places in Sept 2018.
Congratulations to our mixed football team who won their cup game against Christchurch 1 -0.
A special well done goes to RP (Class 9) who scored the winning goal.

Thursday saw Class 1 put on their pirate assembly, is was a spectacle and I am sure that all the adults who attended were amazed at their confidence, acting and singing skills.

Our open afternoon on Friday was once again well attended by parent/carers; it was lovely walking around the school seeing children proudly showing off their work.

    This week:
This week The Hayes will be a hub of excitement as we start our Christmas celebrations.

On Monday we have the Reception Christmas Performance starting at 1.45pm.

To finish the week, our PTA will be setting up a Christmas Bazaar stall in the playground after school where you will be able to buy some last minute Christmas goodies!!

    Important message:
This year during the performances we will be asking parents not to take videos. There are children in the school who are not allowed to be filmed as well as some parents who do not wish for their child to be filmed. We would also ask that you only take pictures of your own child/ren and avoid taking photos of other children unless you have permission to do so. Additionally, please do not put up pictures on social media without parental permission. We would kindly ask all adults to respect this request and also refer you to have a look at our Social Media policy on the school website.
