  • Week beginning 13th December 2021

    Sat 11 Dec 2021

The final week of the term is upon us and we write to let you know what is coming up.

Recording of EYFS and Year 1 Performance: on Tuesday, the children in Year 1 and Reception will be recording their Christmas performances.  They have been practicing so hard and we are sure you will enjoy the performance. We will get the recording uploaded onto Google classroom for you as soon as possible and will send you a text to let you know when they are ready. Well done to all of the children, teachers and support staff involved in these productions. Please remember to consent for your child to be in the film, on Parent Pay. As already said, the Year 6 Drama club and Junior Choir will be recording their performance in the New Year.
Reindeer Food: the PTA will be on the grass by the front gate, after school on Monday and Tuesday selling reindeer food for any of you that may need some. This mixture is environmentally friendly and can be purchased at a cost of £1 per bag from the stage area of the playground.

Christmas Lunch and Dress-Up: on Wednesday, the children are invited to wear something Christmassy to school, this could be a Christmas jumper or a full-on Christmas fancy dress outfit…it is up to you! We will also be having our school Christmas dinner on this day. There will be no alternative dinner options such as baguettes or jacket potatoes. We will assume that children who order a dinner on Wednesday will be having the red option (turkey). Those requiring a green option (vegetarian wellington) must email the office to book this. All children will be provided with a Christmas cracker courtesy of the PTA and will enjoy some Christmas music while they dine!
Wrap Around Care: as said in previous email to all those in WAC, presently, we are short staffed in this provision, because of a number of different illnesses. Therefore, we are having to ask other members of staff to fill in. At the moment, Breakfast Club is going to continue as usual for the final week of term. However, from Monday, After School Club will finish at 5pm when you will have to collect your child. Please also remember there will not be any provision on Friday afternoon because we close at 1:30pm. We thank you for your understanding and will try our utmost to continue this service next week, staff permitting.

Brighten Your Bag Competition: on Friday, the JTAs (Junior Travel Ambassadors) announced the winners in our Achievement Assembly. There were some amazing designs that Miss Slade will share in her HT newsletter, next week. The winners will win a pack reflective items to put on their bags and coats. Well done to:
Michael, in Class 2, Alana in Class 8 and Caitlen in Class 11.

Gymnastics: congratulations to our gymnasts in the school who have recently been awarded with the Winstrada Sports Development Award in Class 3: Grade 3: Devon, Nurel, Michael and Winter and a massive well done to Freddie who has achieved Grade 6. Congratulations to those in Class 4 who have also passed Grade 3: Sienna, Eva, Mia and Sinead.

Scientific Achievement Award goes to Wilfred, for completing the What’s the Matter programme with Fizz Pop Science!

Class disco afternoon: Ellis in Class 11
30 minute swim for you and 9 friends: Thomas in Class 12

ABCD award (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty), this week goes to Mrs Farr and Mrs Duckett, for all of their efforts in planning and supporting across both of the EYFS classes in the last couple of weeks – thank you, you are stars.

Parties: on Thursday, after lunch, there will be Christmas parties in classes. In line with our COVID risk assessment, it is not wise at the moment to have sharing platters in place and therefore we ask parents to provide their own children with a snack pack for the party. As the parties are after lunch, the children are unlikely to need sandwiches etc but may like some small treats such as a small cake, 2 biscuits, fruit or crisps. Whilst we are a healthy eating school, we also want our children to learn that treats in moderation are part of a balanced diet and as this is a special occasion the children will be permitted to consume these items. Please provide enough only for your child to eat (e.g. no whole tubes of pringles or 6 pack of penguins for example) as the children will not be permitted to share due to allergies. Please may we remind you that we are a NUT FREE school and this must be strictly adhered to for the safety of some of our more vulnerable pupils. Thank you.

Many thanks to Father Christmas for joining our virtual Achievement assembly on Friday, it was certainly a surprise for Miss Slade as he Ho Ho Ho-ed into her room, she had no idea he was coming! He really helped her with the assembly and it was amazing to meet him. Sadly, he wouldn’t stay for lunch because Rudolph was making a noise on our roof – it was time to go!

Fab Christmas Jumpers were worn on Friday and the children looked amazing, bright and festive. Thank you all!

Break Up! we break up on Friday for ALL children at 1:30pm and we wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe Christmas break. Tuesday 4th January is an INSET day for staff. We look forward to welcoming children back to school on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

That just leaves us to say, have a good rest of the evening and a restful Sunday! Stay safe.

  • Week beginning 6th December

    Sun 05 Dec 2021

    Week beginning 6th December 2021

THANK YOU to all those who baked cakes for our Christmas bake sale and purchased items. With your help the PTA raised £500 from this event.

On Friday the 10th December, it is Christmas jumper day. The children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers to school instead of their school jumper. The rest of their clothing should be uniform as usual.

As we have been advised by Public Health, Croydon to cancel all in person concerts we will now be giving each year group bubble the opportunity to perform 2 Christmas songs or songs from their performance outdoors. This will take place on the raised area outside the Year 3 classroom and wrap around care room. These events will begin at 2:45 and the children can go straight home after the event. Please come to the main playground if you wish to spectate. The children will be performing on the following dates:

    Wednesday 8th- Year Reception

    Thursday 9th- Year 1

    Friday 10th – Year 3

    Monday 13th- Year 2

    Tuesday 14th- Year 4

    Wednesday 15th- Year 5

    Thursday 16th- Year 6

We understand that this is short notice but in order to give all children a chance to perform we have to start from tomorrow. When watching these events please can we ask that you consider wearing face coverings and maintaining a suitable distance from others.

Lastly, NatCen Social Research is inviting you to express an interest in taking part in the Family Food Experience Study. They are looking for families with primary school aged children (aged 4–11 years old) to take part in this study to help them understand family food environments and children’s eating habits. They will interview one adult in your household and, with your permission, will also take the height and weight measurements of one primary school aged child in your household. As a thank you for taking part, you will receive a £30 shopping voucher. You can register your interest using this link: survey.natcen.ac.uk/FFE21.

We break up for the Christmas Holidays at 1:30 on the 17th December.
