  • Week beginning 3rd October 2016

    Wed 28 Sep 2016

    Week commencing 3rd October

As we enter October we remind all parents that it is 'Walk to School Month' and we therefore encourage as many parents as possible to make the effort to walk to school or park a little further away than normal and walk the last stretch! This has many health benefits and also helps to eliminate the congestion problems that we experience at the start and end of the day.

On Monday morning we kick start our week with our Grandparents breakfast in celebration of Grandparents' Day which takes place on Sunday 2nd October. Grandparents play a fundamental part in the lives of so many of our children and to recognise that we would like to invite them into school to have some breakfast with their grandchildren. Due to limited space I am afraid this event is open to Grandparents and Grandchildren only. Parents are not also able to attend as we simply do not have the space to accommodate this. To ease congestion in the dining hall we ask that any children wishing to attend with their Grandparents do so at the following times:

    8:00 Year 5 and 6

    8:15 Reception

    8:30 Year 1 and 2

    8:45 Year 3 and 4

9:15 Grandparents depart and all children return to classrooms

There will be a selection of teas, coffees, pastries and cakes available.

As a result of this event, Monday's Tae Kwon Do will be held in the music room/ ICT suite and Lexia will be held in  class 1.

On Tuesday Balance Bike Training begins  for some of our children in Reception. On Tuesday evening we are also hosting a parent workshop for new Reception starters called 'How we Learn in Reception'. This will take place in the reception classes at 3:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

On Thursday, Year 3 will be visiting Kidzania. We are sure they will have plenty of fun learning to be responsible, money-wise citizens!

Thursday is also National Poetry Day. If any children would like to bring in their favourite poem to share with their class they are welcome to do so.

There will be no dance club on Thursday after school.

Drama club begins on Friday after school for any Year 6s who have returned their slips. Collection time is 4pm.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Week beginning 26th September

    Mon 26 Sep 2016

    Week beginning Monday 26th September

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our curriculum meetings on Thursday evening. We hope you found them helpful and informative.  We shall be uploading copies of the presentations to our school website and will confirm with parents when this has happened. For parents of children in Year 2 and 6, there will be an optional additional meeting for you to go through the expectations of the new SATs which were introduced last year. KS2 SATs meeting will be at 9:00 on Thursday 13th October and the KS1 Meeting will be on Thursday 20th October at 9:00. If you are a working parent who is unable to attend, we are happy to email the presentation to you after the event.

Thank you also to all the families who supported ‘Jeans for Genes’ day. In assembly today children learned about Genetic disorders and understood how their £1 donations would go towards helping some of the 2million children living with a genetic disorder in the UK. We shall confirm the amount raised ASAP!

    Coming up next week…

    • The Croydon Advertiser will be in school to take class photographs of our new Reception starters on Wednesday afternoon
    • The Year 6  ‘What we are learning’ Meeting will be held on Thursday at 3:30
    • Cliff Harris, our school photographer, will be in school on Friday 30th to take individual photos of your children which will be available for you to purchase.

We are in the process of updating our school website and utilising our Twitter feed to celebrate our achievements. We will make the assumption that you are happy for us to use your children’s photographs for this reason unless you inform us that you do not wish this to happen. Parents who do not wish their children to be photographed must notify us in writing by Friday 30th September.

    Have a great weekend.
