  • Week beginning 24th February 2020

    Sat 22 Feb 2020

Today we break up for half term at the usual time. It is hard to believe that we are now half way through this academic year already! We wish you all a great half term break and remind you that we return to school on Monday 24th of February.

On Monday 24th the CSMA Infant Choir will be participating in a rehearsal at The Hayes in the afternoon. To remind you tickets are available for sale at £5 each from the Fairfield halls online or by phone.

There is an away netball match against St Aidens after school and we wish the girls the best of luck!

Miss Smith will be taking some children to a football tournament on Wednesday. Those involved will already have been notified. We wish them good luck.

In the afternoon, the children in the Junior CSMA choir will attend a rehearsal at St Mary’s School which they will be travelling to and from by minibus. We are due to arrive back at school at approximately 4:00 but will update you if there are any changes.

There is also a netball match at Kenley on Thursday 27th February, again we wish the team good luck.

Please see attached a letter from Riddlesdown regarding their recent consultation re feeder schools.

We wish you all a happy and restful half term.

  • Week beginning 10th February 2020

    Fri 07 Feb 2020

We have had a really good week of Internet Safety. All children participated in computing/coding workshops and assemblies to help them improve their awareness of how to be safe online. Parents even joined in. Many thanks to Ms Booth for organising a fantastic week. On Monday our Year 6 children are attending the matinee performance of Oliver at Riddlesdown – we really look forward to this production! Your child will require a packed lunch.

Run Club begins on Tuesday morning and children allocated a place should meet Mrs Olley in the foyer at 8:10am wearing appropriate running clothes and trainers. Please ensure they have their uniforms in their bags as they will be required to change afterwards. The children will be completing mile 1 of their half marathon challenge.

The Infant Choir will be attending their first rehearsal in the school hall on Tuesday to prepare for the CSMA Festival at The Fairfield Halls in March. This will finish at 3pm.

The children in Class 2 will be leading our whole school assembly on Wednesday. If you have a child in this class, please join us in the school hall from 9:15am. We look forward to seeing you!

Mrs Raftery will be joining us in assembly on February 14th to inform the children about the forth coming Hayes got Talent Competition. This is a talent contest which is open to all year groups. More information will come your way shortly from the PTA.

The children in the Junior CSMA choir will also begin Area Rehearsals this week on Friday. Originally, we were having rehearsals at The Hayes, but we now need to travel to Park Hill Primary. Due to the late notice, CSMA will provide a coach for us. The children will be back to school at approximately 405pm. Choir will continue on Tuesdays until 420pm, as usual.

We break up for half term on Friday finishing at normal time. There will be a Valentine’s cake sale on the playground after school with cakes available from 50p and the Boys football team have a match against Beaumont.

Lastly, our school council have been working hard to think of ways they can help to promote healthy lifestyles and after half term they will be introducing a fruit tuck shop at morning break times. The children will be able to purchase a piece of fruit for 30p to enjoy during the break time. This will initially include apples, oranges, pears and bananas. The tuck shop is not set up to make profit just to promote healthy living and encourage children to eat their 5 a day. If any profit is made it will be reinvested in fruit for the following week including seasonal products such as melons, strawberries or plums, if affordable.

We wish you all a really happy and restful half term break and look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday 24th February.

  • Week beginning 3rd February 2020

    Mon 03 Feb 2020

We start this week’s bulletin with a big thank you to Mrs Duckett, our History Co-Ordinator who organised a fantastic history week for our children. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about their local area and interesting Croydon buildings. If you would like to see some of the work they have produced, a small exhibition will be open to parents and carers in the school hall between 2:40 and 3:00 on Tuesday afternoon. We will be using the car park fire doors for an entrance and exit and pick up will be the normal place and normal time for your child. We would love to see some of you there.

Our focus next week is largely on Internet safety as we celebrate Safer Internet Day in school (Wed 5th). All children will participate in computing workshops and assemblies to help them improve their awareness of how to be safe on line either this week or next. There will also be a parent workshop after school on online safety taking place on Monday and Tuesday. Spaces are limited so please call the office to check availability and make a booking if there is still space.

It is also children’s mental health week and we will be talking to the children about ways they can keep their minds healthy and the importance of talking to someone if they have a worry or a concern. On Thursday, we wish good luck to the children participating in the swimming gala. We are sure they will represent our school brilliantly. Children will meet at 8:30am in the foyer of Purley Pools. Children are expected to return to school for the afternoon session. Due to this annual event, there will be no swimming for children in Year One this week.

On Friday 7th we wish our netball team the best of luck as they play against Margaret Roper (at home).

    Have a great weekend.
