    Week beginning 14th December

Congratulations to the football team who won their match yesterday again, 5-0 against Kenley Primary. They displayed great sportsmanlike behaviour throughout the fixture and are to be commended on the overwhelming success throughout this term. Thank you also to the parents that have supported with lifts yet again and who offer their support tirelessly.

Thank you also for a very entertaining Class Assembly from Class 10 this week, along a theme of Harry Potter. It was great to hear such a wide range of content, summarising all you have learnt this term.

This morning’s assembly was slightly different to usual in that we enjoyed musical performances from pupils who are learning the fife, flute and recorder. The fiddle fiesta group also performed some Christmas songs. Well done to all of you – it is lovely to hear the progress that you are all making.

    Coming up next week …

It is Breakfast with Santa on Monday morning at 8am. Places needed to be booked through the PTA website but I believe that it has been fully booked now.

Year 5 will be visited by Portals to the Past for the duration of the day on Monday and Year 3 will be singing Christmas songs at the end of the day on the playground. Year 4 will be singing on Tuesday, Year 5 on Wednesday and Year 6 on Thursday. Do come along to listen!

There are a number of choir visits to various care homes this week where they will be singing Christmas Carols:

    Tuesday 15th December – 10.30am Acorn House

    Wednesday 16th December – 10am Holly Bank

    Thursday 17th December – 10.30am Hill House

It is our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday; all children have been booked a school dinner for this day unless you have told us otherwise. Please ensure that there are sufficient funds in your ParentPay account.

The Drama Club will be performing, alongside the choir, the annual Christmas Performance at 7pm on Wednesday 16th December.

The football squad will have a practice after school on Thursday this week and will start back again on the first Thursday when we return in January. We will let you know match fixtures once they have been arranged but there will be practices on a Thursday until you hear otherwise.

On Friday we will be participating in the Christmas Jumper Day. Children may wear a Christmas jumper with the rest of their school uniform for a donation of £1 which will be made to the charity, Save the Children.

We will close for the Christmas holidays at 1.30pm on Friday 18th December.

Please note message below from Caterham Cricket Club:

Caterham Cricket Club is looking for boys and girls in Years 3 to 6 to join their junior section. Indoor winter training will start on Sunday 10th January 2016 at Caterham School Sports Centre. We will be running sides at U9 to U11 in the 2016 cricket season plus a mixed age girls side (U8 to U12).

For more details about the club and the practice session times email colts@caterhamcc.com or use the contact us link on our website www.caterhamcc.com

    Enjoy your weekend.

    Week beginning 7th December 2015

Thank you to all who helped out at the Christmas Fair on Saturday. A special mention must be made though, to Jo and her PTA team whose tireless work behind the scenes for many months made the event such a success. Many who visited commented on the good quality of the Fair and there were lots of people who came through the door that are not part of The Hayes community yet.

Well done again to the football team who won their match against Harris Kenley last night 2-1 after being 1-0 down through most of the game.

    Coming up next week ….

There will be hearing tests for the remainder of Year 1 on Monday.

At 1.45pm we kick off our Christmas Performances with Reception performing to their parents. The KS1 Performance will take place at 1.45pm on both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. We are looking forward to seeing the results of all their hard work!

Class 10 will be hosting the class assembly on Thursday at 9.15am and we look forward to welcoming parents to this. If you are attending, please wait in the school entrance area until 9.15am as prior to this, the class will be rehearsing and setting up the hall. Thank you for your support in this.

Year 6 will also be holding a Viking Day in the hall on Thursday. I am sure that they will thoroughly enjoy the activities that their teachers have planned for this event!

The football team have a football match on Thursday too at Kenley Primary so we wish them well in this.

On Friday a group of children will be going to All Saints’ Church in Kenly to decorate the Christmas tree that we have sponsored for the Christmas Tree Festival that the Kenley churches are organising for Saturday. The choir have been invited to sing at the Festival on Saturday 12th December from 12pm for half an hour.

It is also the KS2 Pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, on Friday afternoon. Please do remember that the children may be slightly late coming out of school after this as the show does continue right up until home time. Reception and KS1 will be having a Christmas Party in the afternoon and a list will circulate to parents for you to sign up for a party-food donation. Thank you to the PTA who have funded both of these events for the children.

If your child is in Drama Club, please remember that they will be practising until 5pm on Friday.
