Don't forget the Purley Swimathon takes place at Purley Pool this Saturday 28th February! If you would like to make a contribution and sponsor the teams you can do it at www.mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/thehayesprimaryschoolswimathon2015

    Week Beginning 2nd March 2015

On Monday 2nd March the Infant children will attend their choir rehearsal at The Fairfield Halls, Croydon.  Thank you to all those parents who have been helping us with transport, it is much appreciated.

If you have not already done so, please remember to make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher to discuss your child’s learning and progress. Parents’ teacher meetings will take place this week, on Tuesday 3rd (3:30-5:00pm) and Thursday 5th (3:30-8:00pm).  Please use our online booking system to make your appointments.  These went live at 7am on Wednesday 25th February.  If you have experienced any difficulties booking an appointment please do contact the school office who will happily book an appointment on your behalf.

On Wednesday, all children taking part in the Junior CSMA concert will be going to the Fairfield Halls for their rehearsal this morning.   Please see your previous correspondence regarding the train transport arrangements for getting to this rehearsal.

On Thursday 5th March we are looking forward to joining in with celebrating ‘World Book Day’.  The children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a book, and bring in a donation of £1.00.  The money raised will go towards developing exciting book corners in every classroom across the school.  The children can also bring in a favourite book to school on Thursday, as during the day when a special signal sounds all members of the school community will be stopping their current activities and reading for ten minutes.  We also invite children to take a photo of themselves reading a book in their favourite place.  If they could bring these into school we will be using these in a whole school display.  The children will be joining in with a range of exciting book related activities throughout the day in their classes.

On Friday Class 9 will be leading our whole school assembly.  If you have a child in Mr Blundell’s class and would like to join us for this event please meet us in the school hall for 10.15am.

We do hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

    Week Beginning 23rd February

As you are already aware we are closed tomorrow due to INSET, therefore I am sending you your weekly bulletin for the week after half term a day early.

School re-opens on Monday 23rd February.  Here’s what’s coming up throughout this week…

On Tuesday 24th February our Year 5 /6 mixed Quicksticks Hockey team will be competing in a tournament at Coulsdon College during the morning.  If your child has been entered into this event can they please bring in their own drinks.  The children need to meet us at the event venue promptly at 9am and be collected from there again at 12.00pm.

On Wednesday 25th February our Year 6 children are having a visit from Transport for London.  This is to explain to the children all about how to stay safe on public transport, in particular thinking about safety on trains, trams and buses.  This is extremely beneficial as these children may begin to start travelling independently as they prepare for their transition to secondary school later this year.

On Thursday 26th our Infant choir will be taking part in another CSMA rehearsal.  Also our Dance group will attend another rehearsal for their dance festival on this day.

On Friday 27th our Junior choir will attend their CSMA rehearsal.

Please may I remind you that the tickets for the Infant and Junior CSMA festivals (16th March- Infant Festival, 19th March- Junior Festival) went on sale yesterday at the Fairfield Halls Box Office.  You are now able to purchase them through the box office in person or on line.  These events usually sell out extremely quickly so please get your order in if you have not already done so.  Remember tickets are limited to 10 per order.

Please may we remind you that all school visits can now by paid for through parent pay and we would strongly urge you to do this.  If you unsure how to use parent pay please do pop into the office and the staff will be happy to help you.

    Week Beginning 9th February 2015

Thank you to all of the super stars in Class 4 for leading a fantastic assembly about the Great Fire of London this morning.  We thoroughly enjoyed watching them in their fantastic costumes, listening to their wonderful singing and sharing the wealth of factual information that they have learnt.  Thank you to Miss Goodwin for organising this.

On Monday there is a boys football tournament held at Shirley Park during the day, we do hope that the children attending from The Hayes enjoy their day.

On Tuesday our Year 5/6 football Team are competing in a match against Margaret Roper, we wish them the best of luck.

Also a mixed team of our Year 3/4/5 and 6 children are taking part in a gymnastics tournament at Riddlesdown Collegiate on Wednesday 11th February; good luck to them.  If your child is taking part in this, don’t forget they need to be collected from school at 2.40pm and from the event venue at the completion of the competition.

On Thursday 12th our Infant Choir are attending rehearsals again in preparation for their CMSA festival.  Thank you again to those parents who have volunteered to drive the children to this rehearsal, as we would not be able to take part without this invaluable support.

Also on Thursday 12th February it is pancake dessert day.  Children who have school dinners will be able to choose a delicious topping for their pancake dessert, from a selection of fruit compot, lemon and sugar, sliced bananas and toffee apple- what a treat!

Thank you to the PTA for organising this event.
