    Week beginning 25th September 2017

Thank you to all parents who came along to the Curriculum Meetings yesterday to find out what your children are learning this year. As Miss Slade’s email this week stated, if you were unable to attend you will be able to look at the presentations delivered on our school website from Monday (Parent Information tab/Parent Workshops).

Year 2 looked fantastic this week dressed up for their Circus day, they all had a great day and great fun! If you follow The Hayes on Twitter, please check out our page to see our photos!

Many thanks for the money raised for Jeans for Genes day today. We will let you know how much we have collected in next week’s bulletin.

Just a reminder for reasons of Health and Safety, children should not wear jewellery to school. Earrings are not permitted on swimming and PE days, but plain studs may be worn on the days your child does not take part in sport. If a watch is worn the responsibility for its safety lies entirely with the owner. Thank you as always for your support and understanding.

    Next Week:

*Thursday 28th September – Bags 2 School remember to bring your recycling to the office by 9am. No bedding, curtains, towels, household linen or bric a brac! Many thanks.

*Friday 29th September – Our school photographer is in to take individual and sibling photos.

    Up Coming Events:

On Monday 2nd October, The Hayes Primary and Hayes Church will be holding our Grandparents Breakfast again. This is to celebrate our wonderful grandparents who do so much for us all. The breakfast was very popular last year so to ensure we get the right number of croissants (etc!), can you please sign up in the foyer. Many thanks.

    The times are listed below:

    8.00am – Year 5 and Year 6

    8.10am – Year 4

    8.20am – Year 3

    8.30am – Year 2

    8.40am – Year 1

    8.50am – Reception.

If you have a grandchild in more than one class you are more than welcome to choose which time slot to attend with all of your grandchildren.

We have also confirmed our dates for our residential trips this year. Year 5 will be going to Carotty Wood from the 16th – 18th March 2018. Year 6 will be going to the Isle of Wight from the 4th – 8th June 2018.

If you are interested in pre-school swimming lessons there are currently some spaces available. Please contact Miss De Cruz for further information.

Congratulations to all of our children who received commendation certificates today. Well done!

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Week beginning 18th September 2017

We have been pleased to be able to welcome our new Reception families to The Hayes this week. The children have settled in well and it’s been great to see them around the school looking so smart and confident. To see our EYFS in action, please take a look at our website (Gallery) and also on Twitter.

We hope that our parents found the Secondary Transfer Meeting informative on Thursday. If you would like to read the powerpoint presentation, it has been uploaded onto our website (Parent Information tab/Parent Workshops).

Congratulations to all of our children who received their Excellence Certificate today. Well done! Also a massive thank you to our Teaching Assistants who do so much for our children at The Hayes (and staff and parents!) Today is Teaching Assistant day and we celebrated in style by presenting each star with a certificate, reading out lovely poems and singing our TA song. Many thanks to Clare Wetherell who made cupcakes for lovely ladies, they were very well received and deservedly spoilt.

    Coming up next week:

On Tuesday there is a PTA meeting in the staffroom at 6pm.

On Thursday we are holding our ‘What we are learning this term’ parents meetings. Please see the times listed below:

    Year 1 – 3.30pm in Class 1

    Year 2 – 4.00pm in Class 3

    Year 3 – 4.30pm in Class 5

    Year 4 – 5.00pm in Class 7

    Year 5 – 5.30pm in Class 9

    Year 6 – 6.00pm in Class 11

Unfortunately we are unable to provide child care for these meetings due to SLT being in them.

On Friday 22nd September 2017 we are fund raising for Jeans for Genes, children can wear their jeans for £1.00 with their school jumpers. This is an opportunity for us to do something amazing for the half a million children in the UK who are affected by a life-altering genetic disorder.

Thank you for your support as always.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Mon 11 Sep 2017

Week Beginning: Monday 11th September 2017

We are delighted to welcome everybody back to school after the summer break and are pleased to report that the children have settled into their new classes and year groups really well. We especially welcome all of our new starters who are looking very smart in their full school uniforms! You could also help us by ensuring that all items of uniform including PE kits have your child's name and class on them, to assist us in returning lost items. Thank you

This week Miss Smith delivered our Maths Mastery Workshop for Yr 1 parents. Thank you to all of those that attended.

Next week there is a meeting for Year 5 and 6 parents to talk through the application process for secondary school on Thursday 14th September at 3.30pm. We will have someone from Admissions attending the meeting to answer any queries.

To give you advanced notice, Parent Evenings are scheduled to take place from 3:30pm-5:00pm on Tuesday 14th November and from 3:30pm - 8:00pm on Thursday 16th November. There will also be a chance to look at your children's work during Open Afternoon on Friday 1st December from 2pm-3pm

Please help us by ensuring your children have the correct uniform in school for PE and Swimming. This year we will not have spare swimming kits so it is essential that your child is prepared. Just a reminder of the swimming times for this year...

    Swimming 2017:

Reception will swim on a Wednesday morning (from 27th Sept)
Yr 1 swim on Thursday morning
Yr 2 swim on a Wednesday afternoon
Yr 3 swim on a Monday afternoon
Yr 4 swim on Tuesday morning
Yr 5 swim on Monday morning
Yr 6 swim on a Tuesday afternoon

If you have any younger children that would be interested in the pre-school swimming classes, please leave your phone number at the school office for Miss De Cruz (our swimming instructor) to contact you to discuss.

Class Assemblies for autumn term are on the calendar on our school website, please take a look.

We are looking for volunteers to come into school and support our children's learning. You will need to have a DBS check completed, as they are at a cost to the school we are looking for people who are willing to commit to helping on a regular basis. If you are interested please contact Ms Saunders.

May we remind you that we are always here to discuss any concerns or worries you may have. Please do catch your child's class teacher at the end of the day or phone the school office to make an appointment.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
