  • Week beginning 16th December 2013

    Mon 16 Dec 2013

We hope you have now had a chance to read through our very positive Ofsted report. We are very proud of the many achievements and strengths that the inspectors picked up on during their visit to the school. Plans are already in place to address the areas identified for future improvement and action is already being taken as we strive to achieve excellence in all we do!

Our thanks go out to all of the Infant children who provided us with fantastic Christmas Performances this week. Year 1 and 2 children performed an excellent rendition of the Wriggly Nativity and impressed the audiences on Tuesday and Wednesday with their confident singing, dancing, acting and clear delivery of lines.

Today it was the return of our Reception children who also provided a magnificent Christmas performance. The first of what we hope will be many performances to parents at The Hayes over the next 7 years! There were certainly some stars in the making!

Next week, it is the turn of our Junior children to entertain you. In addition to the planned performance of drama club and the Junior Choir at 7pm on Wednesday in the school hall, we have planned a little surprise for you to get you in the festive mood. At the end of each school day next week, the children in years 3-6 will be singing some Christmas songs/ Carols to you in the playground from 3pm. Year 3 will perform on Monday, Year 4 on Tuesday, Year 5 on Wednesday and Year 6 on Thursday. They will be standing in the fenced area that used to be the old Reception outdoor area. The black gates will open earlier than usual to allow you into the playground to watch and listen to the performances. Each year group have prepared 3 songs for your entertainment. We hope you will enjoy!

We start next week with the opportunity to have breakfast with Santa at 8:00 in the school hall with thanks to the PTA for organising this. Only children who have signed up may attend this event. School starts at normal time for those who have not signed up. We also have one of our school governors, Rev. Chris from St Barnabas leading a whole school Christmas assembly to all children at 9:30.

On Monday lunchtime the school council are meeting for the last time in 2013. If your child is a council rep, please remind them about this important meeting!

The Junior Choir continue to visit local care homes to spread some festive cheer. We will visit Holly Bank on Tuesday and Acorn House on Thursday. Well done to all choir members who sang at Hill House today. You were great!

Tuesday will also be the school Christmas lunch. Your child should have booked this dinner in advance. If you have not booked, please provide your child with a packed lunch. Thank you to the PTA for providing the children with Christmas Crackers for this event!

On Friday 20th December we break up at 1:30pm. School dinners will be served as usual.

Thanks once again for your on-going support. Have a great weekend.

  • Week beginning 9th December

    Fri 06 Dec 2013

This week’s bulletin begins with a few thank yous! Firstly to the Hayes PTA for organising such a fantastic Christmas Fair last Saturday which, with your help, raised £5,700 for the school! We are extremely grateful for your support.

Thank you also to all the children who performed yesterday in the mime at Fairfield Halls. They performed with great confidence and we received lots of positive feedback.

Apologies to all children in year 4 who didn’t get to see the Rockman as planned who cancelled his visit due to pneumonia. A new date will be arranged as soon as possible in the new year.

Next week, we begin our Christmas performances. On Tuesday and Wednesday at 1:45pm the children in years 1 and 2 will be sharing their Christmas performances with parents.

On Thursday in the afternoon the Junior children will see the Chaplin’s theatre group pantomime which is Goldilocks and The Three Bears whilst the Infant children will have a Christmas party with a special visitor.

On Friday, it’s the turn of our reception children to take part in their first school performance (tissues at the ready!) If your child is in Rainforest or Safari please do come along to watch this event that takes place in the school hall at 1:45.
