  • Weekly Bulletin 16th December

    Mon 16 Dec 2019

What a festive week we had last week with amazing performances from the children in Reception and in Year One. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support these special events, we hope you enjoyed these performances as much as we did. The children have made us all very proud!

On Tuesday the children filled the hall with panto cheer as they were treated to a performance of Beauty and the Beast courtesy of the PTA. We thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you!

    Coming up this week…

On Monday, we will be the last Infant choir of the year and there will be a short Xmas performance at 3:45 for parents wishing to come along and watch. This will be held in the music room.

On Tuesday, the Year 6 drama club and junior choir will be putting on their performance to parents which begins in the hall at 6:00pm. The children have been working very hard and we hope you can join us for this event. Please can you children join Miss Slade in the Music Room at 5.40pm.

On Wednesday, it is Christmas jumper day where children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper with their school uniform rather than their school jumper. It is also Christmas dinner day. If your child is no longer eligible for universal free school meals (Yr. 3 and above), please make sure you have money on your parent pay to cover the cost of this meal. Thank you.

Also on Wednesday, children of parents who have consented on line will be given the nasal flu immunisation. This was rescheduled due to a shortage of the vaccine.

The winners of the Brighten Your Bag Competition are Infants: Sunaya (1st) and Isaac T (2nd) Lower Juniors Chloe (1st) and Sasha (2nd) and Upper Junior Ciara (1st) & Deliah (2nd). Well done.

Thank you to those of you who have contributed to the Reverse Advert Calendar, we will be accepting donation up to and including Wednesday 18th December.

Class parties will take place on Thursday afternoon and the children will break up on Friday at 1:30 for the Christmas holidays. We thank you all for your support this term and wish you all a wonderful break.

  • Weekly Bulletin 9th December

    Fri 06 Dec 2019
Congratulations to our Year 6 Drama Club who performed the Nativity tableaux at The Minster Church yesterday. The children were confident and represented the school brilliantly. The children in Year 5 and 6 enjoyed watching the orchestra perform and were excellent ambassadors of the school.

On Monday morning, we start the day with a very special visitor! Those who have signed up through the PTA events page may join us in the school hall for Breakfast with Santa. The children will be given some breakfast and the opportunity to meet Santa and those on the nice list may even receive a small gift. We thank the PTA for organising this wonderful event.

We have a post box in school for children who wish to send Christmas cards. To ensure your cards get to the right people, please can we ask that on the envelope you write the child's first name and class number. If there is more than one child in the class with the same name, you may wish to also include the first letter of their name e.g Molly H Class 1. Last day for posting is Wednesday 18th December.

On Monday afternoon, the children in Reception will be leading our first Christmas performance of the year. Have the tissues at the ready for a Nativity to remember. We look forward to seeing you in the school hall at 1:45.Your child will be asked by their class teacher to make their Christmas dinner selection today. There will be two choices red (meat) or green (vegetarian) plus a variety of desserts. Every child, regardless of their lunch choice, will receive a Christmas cracker on the day.

On Tuesday, some children (parental consent dependent) will be given the Flu immunisation from the school nurse. Information about this has been sent home via email last week. To confirm, this is not an injection but a nasal spray.

The School Council will meet for the 3rd time this year on Tuesday at 12:30 in the ICT suite. If your child is the class rep, please remind them to go for an early lunch.

On Tuesday afternoon, it is the turn of our Year One children to wow us with their Christmas performance. Please join us in the school hall for a 1:45 start. We are sure you will see many Christmas stars at this event. Mrs Randall will be organising a cake sale in support of the Royal Marsden Hospital after school on Tuesday. Cakes will be priced at 50p. If you would like to help with baking cakes, please bring them to the office on the day. Thank you in advance

On Wednesday, courtesy of our PTA the children will be visited by a theatre group who will perform a Beauty and the Beast pantomime. Due to this performance, there will be no swimming for Reception children on this day.

The PTA will also be hosting their Elfridges shop at lunch time from 12:00-1:10. The children can come to Elfridges to choose a Christmas present to wrap up and put under the tree for a loved one. You can bring cash of £3 and pay on the day. This pop up shop will be open on Wednesday 11th & Monday 16th December only.

There will be a menu change on Wednesday, the red option will be chicken, all other options remain the same.

There is a friendly netball match at home against Kenley on Wednesday after school and we wish the team the very best of luck.

We are closed to children on Thursday 12th December due to the General Election and our school being used as a polling station. Once more, we apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause but thank you for your understanding that safeguarding our children is our most important concern.

Please may we remind parents and carers that we hold the Healthy School award. We are concerned that some of the packed lunches we have seen recently are not in line with our school policy and packed lunch guide. Please can we remind parents that chocolate items and sugary treats are not permitted and crisps are permitted on Fridays only. Please help us ensure your children are healthy by adhering to our school policies. Thank you.

There will be no Lexia or booster classes week beginning 16th December.

We thank you for your on-going support and wish you a lovely weekend.

  • Weekly Bulletin 2nd December

    Sun 01 Dec 2019

    Week beginning 2nd December 2019

Thank you to all of the families who came to our school Christmas Fair on Saturday from 12-3pm. We had a wonderful day filled with smiles and laughter. We would like to express our enormous thanks to the PTA for all of the hard work that has gone into making this event such a success. We also want to thank all of our parents and carers who donated items for the fair, purchased raffle tickets and ‘find a fiver’ envelopes.  Without you this event would not be possible. We look forward to reporting on how much we have raised really soon!

Our children in Reception are now really developing in confidence and independence. And as per our standard admission arrangements, after Christmas we will be asking parents and carers to help further develop their children’s independence by asking you to drop the children at the glass doors and refrain from entering the classroom in the mornings. Any urgent messages can be given to the members of staff on the door who will pass this on to the teachers. Thank you.

If you have chosen to participate in the ‘Phil the Bag’ initiative, please ensure that the bags of clothing etc. are brought into school by 9:00am on Thursday where they will be collected. Thank you.

On Thursday 5th December, the children in Years 5 and 6 will be visiting the Minster church to attend the CSMA orchestral music concert. We are proud that some of the children from the Year 6 drama club will be acting out a nativity tableaux as part of this event. The children watching the concert will travel by train to the Minster church and will return also by train. All children must ensure they bring a packed lunch with them to school as by the time they arrive back from the concert the school will have finished serving lunch. The children in the drama event must meet Mrs Olley at the Minster at 9am please.

You will have received an email about a reverse advent calendar.  If you would like to participate in this initiative to do something kind for those less fortunate than ourselves we thank you in anticipation of your kindness.

On Friday at 3:30pm the boy’s football team have a match away at Hamsey Green. We wish them the best of luck.

The last Fit Club for this term will be Friday 13th December, not 20th December as advertised on ParentPay.

The last Year 6 booster for this term will be week commencing 9th December. They will resume week commencing 13th January 2020.

You will also have received an email regarding the Nasal Flu Immunisation programme offered to all children, taking place on 10th December.

We are utilising an online digital consent programme and our school’s unique identification code is 101760. Please access and complete the consent form, indicating whether you do or do not consent to vaccination, via the following link:

    https://awi.croydonhealth.nhs.uk/ChildFluVaccinationForm/Form1/#!/Page1

Online submission must be received by Saturday 7th December 2019. Forms received after this deadline will not be counted towards the original planned session and your child will not be seen in school.

Back by popular demand is the Children's 12 days of Christmas Raffle, where the children have the opportunity to play for and win 12 different prizes.  In the past, tickets have been sold in school but this year we are asking that you purchase their tickets via www.pta-events.co.uk/thehayes.  You can play as many times as you like and for as many prizes as you like. The winners will be announced in assembly on Friday 20th December.  Please see the attached the PTA poster for the prizes and rules of play.
