    Week Beginning 27th April

Here’s what is coming up next week….

Thank you to all of those parents who brought in ‘Phil the bag’.  We received an overwhelming volume of donations, which should greatly assist the school.  Thank you.

On Monday 27th April some of our Year 5 children will be attending an art workshop event at Warlingham Secondary School.

On Wednesday 29th April we invite all parents across the school to attend curriculum meetings with their class teachers.  These meetings last for 30 minutes and will be a useful way for you to find out more about what your child is learning in school, tailored to your child’s year group, with a special focus on the operations in mathematics.  We really encourage you to come along.  These will take place in the classrooms as follows…

    Reception: 3.30pm      Rainforest
    Year 1: 4.00 pm          Class 1
    Year 2: 4.30 pm          Class 3
    Year 3: 5.00 pm          Class 5
    Year 4: 5.30 pm          Class 7
    Year 5: 6.00 pm          Class 9
    Year 6: 6.30 pm          Class 11

Please don’t forget we will have tea and coffee available for parents who may need to wait for another meeting but may not want to go home in between.

On Thursday 30th April our Year3/4 children are taking part in a mini tennis tournament at Purley Bury during the afternoon, we wish them the best of luck.

Also on Thursday some children will be taking part in the UK Junior Maths Challenge – details to follow.

On Thursday 30th our ‘The Hayes has got Talent’ finals will kick off at 6.00pm, in the school hall.  If your child has already entered our talent competition, they will be sent a text message as soon as the judges have made their decision that will inform them if they are taking part in the final. We are so proud of all of the children who have confidently auditioned; they have impressed us with their talents and the decision has been a difficult one.   In assembly today an announcement was made to those children whose audition was successful and parents will be informed over the weekend.  If your child is performing on Wednesday evening, they will need to be at school by 5.30pm in order to prepare for their act.  All families at the school are welcome to attend, whether you have children performing or not. We are really looking forward to enjoying a fabulous evening of entertainment, celebrating our children’s amazing wealth of talents.  Refreshments will be available to purchase and please bring small change for our fundraising raffle.

On Friday 1st May we are delighted that Class 1 will be leading our school assembly.  If you have a child in Mrs Meadows class you are welcome to join us in the school hall for 10.15am.

    Week Beginning: Monday 20th April

What a wonderful sunny start to our summer term and we’re so pleased that our Year 5 children have been having such beautiful weather and such a fantastic time at Carroty Wood this week.

On Monday 20th don’t forget to bring in your ‘Phil the Bag’, in which the school can raise funds from your unwanted clothing.  If you are able to find any unwanted clothing, shoes, handbags, curtains, towels and bedding, please help us by putting these items aside in your ‘Phil the Bag’  and bringing them to the school hall.  If you have more than one bag full or have lost your bag, you can bring items in in any type of bag.  Thank you in anticipation of your help.

Hearing tests for our Year 1 children will take place on Monday and Tuesday morning this week.

After school on Monday our ever popular film club will show a screening of Penguins of Madagascar between 3.00-5.00pm.  This promises to be a fabulous event, with refreshments included as part of the ticket price.  Please book through the PTA events page.

On Wednesday 22nd April our ‘Hayes has got Talent’ auditions will start in school; these will continue on Thursday 23rd April.  We are really looking forward to seeing the range of fantastic acts that the children have prepared.

On Friday our Year 3 children will visit RHS Wisley Gardens as part of their current Science topic on plants.  If your child is in Miss Smith or Miss Ward’s class, please don’t forget that they need to arrive in school promptly at 8.30am as the coaches are making an early start.  The children will need a packed lunch and waterproof coat; however, if this amazing weather continues, please provide your child with a sun hat and apply lotion before they come to school!  Thank you.
