Week beginning Monday 17th June 2024
Well done to the children in Safari class who led their first-class assembly this week. It was a wonderful celebration of their learning about minibeasts. From fantastic singing, story telling and dancing, it was a pleasure to see such a confident performance. Well done to all!
Today we welcome back our Year 6 children, who have been having the most wonderful time in the Isle of Wight. We love being able to offer our children such wonderful enrichment activities and are very grateful to the staff who have accompanied the children as without their willingness to work around the clock, these opportunities could not happen. If you would like to see what they have been up to, check our X feed (formerly known as Twitter). Well done to the children who have been excellent representatives of our school whilst away.
We would also like to say well done to the children in Year One and in Year Four who have taken their statutory assessments in phonics and timestables this week. They have been working very hard and we are super proud of them all.
Next week, some children will be representing our school in the KS2 Croydon Athletics competition. Boys qualifiers take place on Monday 17th, girls qualifiers take place on Wednesday 19th and the finals are on Friday 21st. We wish all those competing, the best of luck and thank them for representing our school.
On Tuesday, the children in Reception are heading off to Bockett’s Farm on their first school trip. We are sure they will have a fantastic day.
On Tuesday afternoon, the children in Year 4 are performing with their Soundstart teachers. They are excited to show you what they have been learning this year. If you have a child in this year group, please do come along if you can make it.
After school on Tuesday, the children in the contemporary dance group will be performing to parents at 3:45. Parents are warmly invited to watch this.
Parents of new Reception starters (September 2024) are invited to attend a welcome meeting on Wednesday 19th June at 6pm in the school hall. Welcome packs will be given out at this event providing details of classes and visit days. We look forward to seeing you there.
Thursday the 20th June is Clean Air day. Children will be learning about ways to keep the air free from pollution and families are encouraged to walk to school where possible.
Friday 21st June is a Mufti (non-uniform) day in exchange for donations for the summer fair. Please bring sweets (not chocolate) and or bottles for the bottle tombola. Thank you for your support with this event. If you are able to support on the day, please sign up to the doodle poll sent by the PTA. The event can not run successfully without you.
Lastly, can we wish any fathers in our community (or any other positive role models involved in our children’s lives) a very happy fathers’ day for Sunday. Thank you for all you do to support the children in our school. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
