Week beginning 26th September 2022

HARVEST FESTIVAL is coming! We will shortly be celebrating the Harvest in school and, from next week, we shall be collecting donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries that we will use in our assembly before we donate to Purley Food Hub to support our local community. With the current cost of living crisis, more and more families are relying on food banks. If you are in a fortunate enough position to be able to help, we thank you enormously for your kindness and generosity. Items can be placed in a collection box that will be located at the main gate at the front of the school.
What are we learning? We continue to invite parents and carers into school for our Year group meetings to outline ‘What We Are Learning’ this term. If you wish to join us in the school hall, meetings will start at 9am and will be held on the following days: Monday 26th – Year 2 Tuesday 27th – Year 3 Wednesday 28th – Year 4 Meetings will continue for other year groups the following week, they will last no longer than 1 hour. For those parents who are unable to make the meeting, we will post year group presentations on the school website, please click here. School Uniform: please can we remind parents to ensure the children’s uniform and personal items are named. This way, lost items can be returned. Please also periodically check your children’s belongings in case they have accidently brought home somebody else’s things.
CMA: lastly, Croydon Music and Arts (CMA) have some new opportunities for children in Key Stage 2, including free workshops for anyone in receipt of pupil premium funding. Please see information below:
Local Library Classes Croydon Music and Arts is launching some new classes in local libraries (New Addington, Purley and Thornton Heath), aimed at introducing KS2 pupils to a range of different musical instruments and performing arts. Classes are great value (£34/term) with discounts for Pupil Premium and Free School Meals pupils. The CMA Voyagers sessions are completely FREE for children on your Pupil Premium register and we would love it if you could promote these classes to the relevant parents and carers. The sessions are a fun, interactive, varied and engaging way for individuals to discover their interests and talents. The course culminates in a performance to families. Further information including dates and times can be found on our website, click here.
Endangered Species Open Morning: on 8th October we will be holding our Endangered Species open day as part of our Saturday morning centre. This class is aimed at encouraging children to try out less-commonly played instruments such as the double bass, bassoon and French horn. Please click here for more information. PTA School Disco: is on Friday 30th September. Tickets are still available if you would like to purchase any, please go to this link. As the website states, the infant disco (Years 1 and 2) is from 3:30pm-4:30pm and the PTA will collect the children from the classrooms and take them directly to the hall at 3:15pm. Please note, children can bring their clothes to school (Years 1 and 2) on the Friday to change for the disco at the end of the afternoon (in class). For the price of the ticket, children will enjoy a disco and entertainment and will be provided with a snack and a drink. Collection: from 4:30pm, parents are to collect their child from the hall large doors. The car park gate will be left open to enable this.
