Week beginning 22nd May 2017

Coming up this week…

As part of their International Primary Curriculum topic ‘Fit for Life’ our Year 5 children will be visiting the Toby Carvery this week. On Monday a mix of class 9 and 10 will attend, on Tuesday the remainder of class 9 will visit and on Wednesday the remainder of class 10 will attend. At the end of their learning about the origin and health benefits of certain foods, they will all be given a FREE carvery for lunch. The children will be travelling to the carvery on public transport and therefor this trip is free of charge.

If you have a child in Year 6 just to let you know we have some members of the PTA popping into school in the morning of the 23rd May to take photographs of your children for their leavers’ year book. We thank all the parents who are giving up their own time to put this together to ensure the children have a great keepsake from their primary years.

Thank you also to the parents who have worked hard to organise the Year 6 leavers hoodies, they look fantastic! Please may we ask that children do not wear these until their residential journey to the Isle of Wight. After this, the children may wear them as a jacket when travelling to and from school but will be required to wear full school uniform during the day (school sweatshirt, not the hoody instead of the school sweatshirt!). In the final week of school in July, our Year 6s may wear their hoodies in school (instead of their school sweatshirts if they wish).

Please may we remind parents of children in class 6 that the class assembly that was scheduled for 24th May has been rearranged and will now take place on 12th July. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

On Thursday David from the Croydon Schools Partnership is leading a Cricket festival with our Year 4 children. We are sure they will thoroughly enjoy this event.

The children break up for half term on Thursday at normal time. As previously notified, Friday is an INSET day for staff and is therefore closed to children.

In other news…

Massive congratulations to our tennis team who have got through to London Schools Games. They will be representing Croydon in the finals. Well done to all involved and to Mr Cooper and Ms Fraser for supporting the children.

On the 10th June some staff from The Hayes including Mrs Evison, Miss Langan, Miss Harman, Mrs Boylan, Mrs Cottingham and Miss Smallwood will be participating in a 5K Inflatable run in Lingfield. They are raising money for the AT society. If you would like to sponsor them for this event you can do so at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TheHayesTeam . Thank you in anticipation of your support.

We would like to give you advance notice that as of September 2017 Caterlink have increased the price of a school meal. The increase will be from £2.15 per day to £2.20 per day (£11 per week).

Thank you for all the support you have given your children this half term. We wish you all a happy and restful half term break and welcome you all back to school on Monday 5th June for the second half of the summer term.
