Week beginning 18th March 2024

Thank you to all those who sponsored the children in their red nose day fundraising. So far, we have managed to raise £267, all of which goes directly to the comic relief charity. If you have not yet donated but would like to the link is…https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rnd24-the-hayes-primary-school-3187f6a4-35b1-487a-aaa4-a9f0bee39f98?reference=copyLink

On Monday, we are having a new sound field system fitted in Class 4 courtesy of TESCO. You may remember we won the ‘blue token’ vote to improve access for children with hearing impairments meaning that this improvement to our environment is fully funded. Thank you, TESCO!

The Scholastic Book fair is on next week and will be running from Monday to Wednesday out side of the Reception Classrooms. Please do pop along with your children. They may wish to spend their world book day vouchers.

On Tuesday and Thursday next week, we are holding our parents’ evenings. If you have not already booked an appointment and need assistance, please call the office who will be happy to help.  Face to face appointments will be in the hall. Please take a seat outside the hall until you are called in. We are looking forward to sharing your children’s achievements with you.

Due to parents’ evenings, there will be NO YEAR 6 BOOSTERS next week.

Class 6 will be hosting our assembly on Wednesday morning. If you have a child in this class, please come to the hall for a 9:10 start. We hope to see you there. Photos may be taken for personal use only.

Year 1 will be visited on Friday by Karen’s pets and ponies on Friday morning. If you have not already provided your consent/payment on ParentPay, please log on to do so.

We are still collecting for our rainbow raffle until Friday 22nd. Thank you to all those who have donated an item for this PTA event.

There are still a small number of spaces left in the TSC miniLondon marathon event for children in years 4+. This is the slightly longer route 2.6K (approx. 1.6 miles). If this is of interest to you, please reserve a space for your child on Parentpay. Every finisher gets an official London Marathon medal and earns a £10 donation for the school.  If your child has a space in the shorter, 1 mile race, and are in Year 2 or below, there are a very small number of parent places still available too (we were granted some additional places), these can also be booked on Parentpay.

Lastly, thank you to all those who supported the school council’s Valentines bake sale last month. Yesterday the children enjoyed playing with a wide range of new playground equipment that they requested themselves. We are still waiting on delivery of some of the larger pieces of equipment but lots of fun was had by all, thanks to your generosity.

I am also very excited to share that, after letting parents know about the Amazon ‘unlock a smile competition’ in a November bulletin, one of our year 6 pupils, Ajwah, entered the competition and has been announced as the winner of the 8-10yrs category. Ajwah has won herself an Amazon goodie bag and a whopping £1000 for our school! Ajwah has expressed that she would like this money to be invested in play equipment for the children and so we are currently looking at options. I will share a photograph of her winning entry in the April newsletter or, you may spot this for yourselves at Kenley station. CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU AJWAH!

Have a lovely weekend.
