Week Beginning 11th March 2019
A huge well done to all the children who dressed up for World Book Day on Thursday, they all looked amazing (as did the staff). Many thanks to our parents and carers as well who put the costumes together, we think this year was the best yet! We hope the children enjoyed this week’s events and a big thank you to Mrs Randall, our English leader who organised the week.

Congratulations to the girls’ football team who won their match 3-0 against Atwood, our boys who won 6-1 against Beaumont this week and to our Mixed Team who beat Hamsey Green 5-1 on Friday! An incredibly successful week, great team work children. Well done to our coaches as well, particularly Ms Smith!

Coming up next week…
*Mrs Richardson’s contemporary dance group perform on Monday evening at Trinity School in the Croydon Schools Dance Association Festival. They have been working hard in preparation for this event and we are sure they will WOW the audience with their Harry Potter themed dance. Good luck dancers! Children participating should meet Miss Slade and Miss Saunders at Trinity School at 4:30, dressed in their costumes, ready to rehearse.
*On Wednesday 13th we invite the parents/carers of children in Class 6 to join us in the school hall at 9:15 for their class assembly. We look forward to seeing you there.
*David from the Croydon School’s sports partnership is teaching the children in Year 1 team games on Wednesday morning alongside their class teachers.
*Good luck to our mixed football team who are in the semi-finals against Margaret Roper on Thursday at 3:30. This match will take place at The Hayes so please do come along and give the team some support.
*Friday 15th March is the last day to accept your secondary school application.

On Friday, we will be raising funds in many funny ways for Red Nose Day. A letter has already gone out about this, including a sponsorship form. Alternatively, this year, we have created a funding page which is secure for you to donate any fundraising money. The link for The Hayes fundraising page is:

To raise money, we’re going to:
*Pie a member of staff (TBA) on the afternoon of Friday 15th for £1 (please provide your child with £1 to give to his/her class teacher on the day);
*Shake a collection bucket on during the week of RND on the playground after school;
*Wear red or something silly (if you are able). If your child wants to wear school uniform, this is ok too!
*Class 9 will be selling cakes in the morning of RND for 50p;

Our classes will also be doing the below sponsored activities either on the day of RND or during the week:
*EYFS: Sponsored Yogathon;
*Year 1: Class 1- Sponsored Fitness Circuit. Class 2- Sing-a-Thon;
*Year 2: Class 3- Sponsored Silence. Class 4- Sponsored Run.
*Year 3: Sponsored Skipathon.
*Year 4: Sponsored Run.
*Year 5: Class 9- Cake Sale: during the day of RND, 50p a cake. Class 10- Sponsored Wash a Staff Car.
*Year 6: Sponsored Silence.

We really appreciate your support and hope that you’ll have fun helping us raise lots of money for Red Nose Day. Children can wear something silly on Friday, wear red, or wear their school uniform.

*On Saturday, good luck to the children taking part in the cross country event at Woodcote School. They should meet Miss Carrier at 8:50 for a prompt 9am start.

Coming up soon….
*Monday 18th-Wednesday 20th: Book Fair from 310pm in the ICT Suite. If you are in Y6 and would like to help at this event, please email the office. Thank you.
A polite reminder, for reasons of Health and Safety, children should not wear jewellery to school.  As per our uniform statement on the school website, earrings are not permitted on swimming and PE days, but plain studs may be worn on the days your child does not take part in sport. For this reason, we recommend that parents wishing to pierce their children’s ears wait until the summer holidays. If this is unavoidable please ensure that your child wears a plaster over his or her earring on swimming days to reduce the risk of them falling out and ending up in the bottom of somebody’s foot! Thank you.

We hope you have a great rest of Sunday night.
