Week beginning 17th November 2025
Thank you for your wonderful engagement in our Parents' evening this week. It is always a pleasure to share with you your children’s achievements and next steps in their learning. We thank you for giving up your time to strengthen our home school partnership.
Tomorrow is our Christmas Fair and we can not wait to see you there. It will run from 12:00pm to 3:00pm and is set to be a fantastic afternoon. Remember, tokens can be purchased in the playground afterschool today or at the stall in the hall tomorrow. Thank you to our PTA members who have worked really hard to put this event together and to all of the parents and carers who have donated items or kindly agreed to run a stall. We would not be able to do this without you.
Next week is Road Safety Week, and our ‘Explorer Ambassadors’ will be running a 'Brighten your Bag' competition to promote the importance Being Seen and Being Safe particularly now the evenings are dark so early. We are asking children to decorate their school bags using fluorescent and reflective colours, with logos or images linked to Road Safety. The more creative, the better! Bags need to be in school on Friday 21st November, and will be judged by the Explorer Ambassadors. A prize will be given to the winner from each class.
On Monday we are also hosting our PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM) from 2:15pm in the school hall. There will be an opportunity to vote for a new Chairperson. All are welcome.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at school from the 18th to the 21st of November next week. It will be situated outside the Reception classes after school, you will be able to purchase books and stationary with card or cash. For every book sold the school receive rewards that we can use to purchase new books. This past year we have used the rewards to buy new dictionaries and thesauruses, Barrington Stoke collections of books and books by a range of new authors for key stage 2 classes. Thank you for your support of our Book Fair. We hope you are able to pop along after school next week.
Next week Reading Club begins for children in EYFS and KS1. This is a lunchtime club that runs on a Monday and a Friday lunchtime from 12:15- 12:45 and is run by our Year 6 pupil advocates. The children in EYFS and KS1 are welcome to come into the library area, where the older children will be happily waiting to share a book with them. They can listen to the younger children read or read a story to them.
On Wednesday the 19th, the children in class 8 will be leading our assembly. If you have a child in this class and wish to join us, this event will start at 9:15 in the school hall. We would love to see you there.
Also on Wednesday, the children in Year 6 will have a workshop focusing on safe and responsible travel. We know that many children will travel independently when they start their secondary schools and this workshop will help to raise awareness of how to use public transport safely.
Good luck to out girls’ team who have a league match Vs Atwood (away) on Wednesday. We wish them the best of luck and have no doubt that they will ‘be the best they can be!’
Lastly, we are supporting the Croydon BME Forum, who are organising a borough wide non- uniform day on Friday 21st November to raise funds for the relief effort following Hurricane Melissa. Croydon has a significant Jamaican community, and many of Croydon’s staff and students’ families have been directly affected by this tragedy. Each child is invited to donate £1 and dress in the colours of the Jamaican flag (yellow, black and green) if they wish to participate. Payment can be made on ParentPay for those who wish to donate.
Have a lovely weekend and hope to see many of you tomorrow!
