Week Beginning 27th June 2022

Firstly, apologies for the delayed circulation of this bulletin but there is much to celebrate from the week gone by!

School Fete: our first thank you goes to our amazing PTA who organised a fantastic summer fair for us all to enjoy on Saturday. There was a fantastic community feel and so many fun events for children to participate in. After 3 years of not being able to run our fair, this weekend felt extra special and we are so grateful to all our children and families who donated items to for the hampers, raffles, stalls etc and to those who donated their time to set up, cook, run a stall, count the takings etc. Thank you thank you thank you! We look forward to sharing with you as soon as possible the takings from the event.

CSMA Performances: our amazing Infant and Junior choirs performed in the CSMA concerts at the Fairfield Halls on Monday and Tuesday evening. They were absolutely brilliant and sung their hearts out. Well done to the children who participated. We were amazed by your wonderful singing and how well you represented our school.  Thank you to the parents and carers for supporting this event. We hope you enjoyed the shows. There will be photos of the performances on our website, in due course.

Croydon Sports: last week, we also celebrated many sporting achievements at the Croydon Sports arena. All children who took, gave it their all and showed us what ‘Being the Best they can be’ looked like in action.  But we were particularly proud of the following groups and individuals who made it through to the finals: Year 6 boys long jump, Year 4 boys 75m sprint, Year 5 girls 600m and boys mixed-age relay race. All competitors were excellent ambassadors for the school. Thank you also to the parents and carers who came along to support this event, we really appreciated your help and support.

Soundstart: the children in Year 4 warmly invite their parents and carers to a concert to demonstrate their wonderful musical talents that they have been working on this year during their Soundstart lessons. The concert will take place on Tuesday 5th July in the playground at 2pm. Please do join us for this event if you have a child in Year 4.

Computing: this week we are delighted to be welcoming the 3-discovery team back into school to lead some exciting computing workshops with our children. Every class will be visited across the week and will further develop their computing skills. Our huge thanks go to 3 Discovery for collaborating with us to help make computing even more exciting for our children.
Equipment: please may we also remind parents to ensure that children come into school with the correct equipment for the day. The office staff are currently dealing with approximately 8-10 requests a day from children to phone home for forgotten instruments, football/swimming kits etc. This adds an unnecessary pressure on their work load and children are missing their lessons when they come to the office to request this. Thank you.

Netball: on Wednesday, there is a netball festival that some of our children will be participating in. We wish them the best of luck and have no doubt they will ‘be the best they can be’.

Assembly: the children in Class 4 will be recording their class assembly on Thursday and the children in Class 6 will be recording on Friday. These will be uploaded as soon as possible onto to Google Classrooms so parents and extended families can watch and enjoy.

Uniform: it is that time of year when families start thinking about ordering school uniform for September. We wanted to let you know that Marks and Spencer’s will be offering a 20% on their uniform orders from the 5th July so you may wish to hold off on placing your order until then!  The Hayes Primary School (mandsyourschooluniform.com) Please remember that back in September 2021, we said in the bulletin that from September 2022, we will be switching from white to black shorts. This came about from a plea from parents to change our uniform due to the easiness of cleaning black shorts and also ease of them! In conclusion, from September 2022, children should wear black shorts. Please also remember that school uniform should not have logos on, the link above is clear of expectations. Thank you.

Earrings and Swimming: please can we remind parents that earrings must be removed before swimming lessons. There have been a number of incidents of children’s earrings coming out in the pool. This is dangerous as they can end up in the sole of somebody’s foot. Please DO NOT send your child to school wearing earrings on their swimming day.
Thank you.

Have a wonderful week.
