Week beginning Monday 23rd September 2024
Thank you to all those who supported our Jeans for Genes day today. The children had a special assembly in school to learn about what genes are and how children’s lives can be affected by genetic disorders. So far, we have raised £161 for this charity. If you have not yet made your donation, and are in a position to do so, please do log on to ParentPay. Thank you for your support.
Thank you also to those who have donated to our Harvest Festival collection. The donation box will remain outside at drop off in the morning all of next week and we welcome any non-perishable food items and toiletries all of which will be donated to the Purley Food Hub to support local families facing hardship.
We are excited to be welcoming the children’s poet Simon Mole to school on Wednesday next week. He will be leading workshops with all children across the school to mark national poetry week. Our thanks go to our wonderful PTA for funding this enrichment opportunity for our children.
On Friday, we are celebrating our wonderful team of support staff as it is National Teaching Assistant Day. We are very lucky to have a highly skilled team of support staff working at The Hayes who lead interventions for children and teach small groups throughout the week. We are so thankful for all they do to help our children ‘Be the best they can be!’
Finally, some premises updates. Unfortunately, we are still awaiting the parts needed to conduct the repairs to our swimming pool. We hope these will arrive over the weekend. There will be no swimming on Monday and Tuesday next week. We will update you on Tuesday evening about whether or not we will be able to resume lessons from Wednesday next week. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this matter. We are doing all we can to get the pool up and running again as quickly as possible.
Roofing works continue and are now scheduled to be finished just before the October half term break. We are aware that, with the staff car park out of use, finding a space close to school has become a little more challenging. Please ensure you leave in plenty of time to find a safe space to park and once more, we remind you not to park on the double yellow lines or across our neighbours’ driveways. For those who are choosing to cycle or scoot to school at this time, please may we remind you to step off your bike or scooter before you come through the school gates. We have had a couple of near misses where people have been almost knocked over by a bike or scooter that has not been seen coming around the corner. Bikes and scooters left on the school premises, on the bike racks, are done so at the owners own risk.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support. Have a lovely weekend.
