Week beginning 14th October 2024
Thank you to all those who supported our Hello Yellow event last week. With your support we raised £136 for the charity Young Minds. The collection will remain open until we break for half term in case there is anybody who still wishes to still donate.
On Monday next week, the school nursing team will be joining us for Year 6 Height and Weight Checks. Please note that the results of this check are not discussed with the school. Any concerns identified will be taken up with parents directly.
Also on Monday, the boys’ football team have a league match (away) against Keston after school. We wish them all the best! The girls’ team also have a cup match this week against Selsdon (away). This is their first match of the year and we know they will be the best they can be! Good luck to both teams.
On Tuesday, there will be a SATS workshop in the hall for parents of children in Year 6 who may like to find out more about the upcoming statutory assessment process. This will begin at 9:10. There will be past papers available for you to look at and an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
Class 9 will be leading our assembly on Wednesday morning to share their amazing knowledge about space! If you have a child in this class and wish to join us, please come to the school hall for a 9:10 start.
Good luck to the netball team who have their first interschool game on Friday against Coulsdon. This is an away match. We wish the team the best of luck and know they will be excellent ambassadors of the school.
On Friday we break up for half term at normal time. There will be a ‘spooktacular’ bake sale after school from 3pm. If you can donate cakes for this sale, please bring them to the office in the morning (all donations must be nut free). Thank you in advance of your help. If you would like to join us at this fundraiser, we would love to see you there. ALL proceeds are, on this occasion, being donated directly to MacMillan Cancer care who are currently supporting our Nurture Assistant and ELSA (and her family), Mrs Rich, as she receives treatment. Mrs Rich has worked for The Hayes for 25 years and is well loved by our school community. Please do keep her in your thoughts. We are all wishing her a speedy recovery.
Lastly, I have some great news to share about our Wrap Around Care provision. Our wraparound proposal to expand our provision was presented to the Education Team. Together with the Education Team, the Capital Delivery Team submitted a funding bid for the required work. (The required work being additional accommodation on the Hayes School premises to expand capacity). I am delighted to let you know that the bid and funding passed through several panels/boards before receiving final approval in August 2024. The project is now included in the 2025/26 Capital Programme with planning, design, consultation, and procurement taking place before commencing the work in the 2025 summer recess. I will endavour to keep you updated on this process as and when there is any news to share. We are delighted that, in the future, we will be able to support more of our working families with their childcare requirements.
I wish you all a wonderful half term break when the time comes and look forward to welcoming you back to school on TUESDAY 29th October 2024 at normal time (Monday 28th is an INSET day for staff only).
Thank you for your ongoing support.
