Week beginning 13th January 2025

We have been delighted to welcome the children back to school this week and hope they have enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with their friends and resume their learning.

We want to start this week’s bulletin with some positive news.  Our swimming pool boiler is due to be replaced tomorrow. I would like to publicly thank Great Waves Swimming Academy, who hire our pool at the weekends and on some weekday evenings, because they have very generously agreed to fund the entire cost of the boiler replacement in order to support our school and help us (and them) get lessons back up and running for our children. We are so thankful for this kind gesture and wanted to acknowledge our appreciation. At a time when school budgets are stretched, their thoughtful offer came as a huge relief. I would also like to thank a member of our parent community who put us in touch with a company who could do this work so quickly for us.  When we talk about the strength of our community working together, this is a perfect example.  Once the boiler has been replaced, the pool will take some time to reach the required temperature for lessons. As soon as this has been achieved, lessons will resume. We will let you know the reopening date as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

On Monday next week, we have a Science assembly being held by Fizz Pop to inspire the children’s scientific inquisitiveness! If your child likes what they see and are interested in learning more, they can sign up for our Fizz Pop Science club via the link on our school website.

Wednesday 15th is the closing date for primary school applications. If your child is due to start in Reception in September 2025, please make sure your application is submitted on time on the e-admissions portal.

Class 5 will be leading our class assembly on Wednesday 15th at 9:10 in the hall. If you have a child in this class, you are warmly invited to join us for this event. We hope to see you there.

Good luck to our girls’ football team who have a home match against St Davids on Thursday 16th January 2025 (weather permitting).  Be the best you can be!

Just for your information, Mrs Kikidis will be away from work for the next few weeks for a minor scheduled procedure so the office will be running at reduced capacity. Please do bear with us while we are a staff member down.

Please help us win £1,000.

Follow this link https://movementforgood.com/index.php?cn=1105308&ct=education_and_skills#nominateACharity and nominate our PTA (The Hayes School Association) and we will be in with a chance to win £1,000. It takes less than a minute.

  • Nomination from 2024 do not carry over so please nominate us again.
  • You can only nominate us once, so please share this with all your friends and family and get them to nominate us.
  • There's no limit to the number of charities you can support so if you have already nominated another charity you can still nominate us too.
  • The more nominations we have the higher the chance we have of winning the £1,000. The first draw takes place on the 27th of January.

Have a lovely weekend. Wrap up and stay warm.
