Week beginning 16th November 2015

Week beginning 16th November 2015

It’s been a busy week at The Hayes. Thank you to all those parents who attended parents’ evening this week. Please do contact your child’s class teacher for an appointment if you were unable to make either of the days.

Congratulations must go to both the Boys’ Football team and the Tag Rugby competitors who both won their events this week. The footballers played against Oasis Byron and won 4-0 while the Year 5 & 6 Tag Rugby squad won each of their games in the tournament and are through to the finals which are being played this week. Good luck to them. Thank you to all the parents and Miss Harman who gave up their time to enable these events to take place.

Thank you also to Jo Doble and the rest of the PTA who planned and hosted another very successful Shopping Evening. We look forward to the next Christmas Event, the Christmas Fair!

We have received a lot of positive feedback about the signs that are on display outside the school next to the road. Thank you to those of you who already park and so considerately around our school. We hope that all members of our school community will heed the signs and pay due care to the welfare of all pupils at the school. Thank you to the PTA who have funded the signs.

Coming up next week…

Friendship week launches on Monday with a special assembly. Children will be working in mixed age classes for a session on Wednesday on learning opportunities that revolve around the theme of ‘Shout it out!’, the national theme for Friendship Week. We look forward to seeing what they have learnt in our whole school assembly on Friday.

On Tuesday, the Year 5 and 6 tag-rugby players will be competing in the finals of their competition after their success in the round last week. There will be a contact rugby competition for some Year 5 and 6 pupils at Whitgift School on Wednesday which takes place throughout the day.  Good luck to all of you; we know that you will do The Hayes proud!

Years 1 and 2 will be receiving immunisations on Thursday. You will have already received information about this separately if you have a child in either of these year groups. Reception and Year 6 height and weight checks take place on Friday in school.

We look forward to welcoming parents of Class 6 to their class assembly, which will take place at 9.15am on Thursday. If you are attending, please wait in the school entrance area until 9.15am as prior to this, the class will be rehearsing and setting up the hall. Thank you for your support in this.

Our football team will be playing matches at home on both Thursday (against Keston) and Friday (against New Valley) this week. Please remember that if your child is not playing this week, there will be no football team practice. Good luck to all of you playing in the 2 matches.

An advance reminder – the individual photographs of children will be taken on Monday 23rd November.

Writer of the Week names will follow on Monday, although they were celebrated in assembly today.

We are looking to increase the range of toys and equipment that we have available to the children in the playgrounds at lunchtime. If you have any old outdoor toys that you would like to donate to the school or some old toy cars (similar in size to the old matchbox cars), we would be very grateful to receive them at the office.

Have a great weekend.
