Week beginning 15.1.18

WB 15.1.18

It was great to welcome so many parents/carers at our coffee mornings last week. We hope you found them informative and enjoyed the time you were able to spend in your child’s classroom. If you were unable to attend, the powerpoints will be available on the school website for you to look at by the end of this week. Y5 coffee morning is tomorrow and Y6 is Tuesday morning, both from 9am.

Sporting triumphs: huge congratulations to our mixed football team who played a cup game on Friday. After a tough match, the final score was 1-1 so it went to a penalty shoot out which we won. The Hayes is now through to the next round. WELL DONE! A special thanks to Miss Langan who coaches our football team.

On Thursday, Year 6 had their IPC Wow – Out of Africa. Some ingenious designs looking into the future! Friday was Crazy Hair Day and all designs were amazing and incredibly imaginative. The children and staff all looked incredible; please look at the website soon for examples of some stunners! Thank you to our School Council who came up with the idea to raise money for playground games and to our parents/carers who spent a long time creating the hair designs with their children. Much fun was had!

You may have noticed some large outdoor gym equipment on the playground that was installed last week. In order to maintain Healthy School status and as a result of our commitment to improve our children’s (and staff) health, fitness, welfare and wellbeing, we decided to spend a % of our Sports Funding on Tai Chi spinners, an arm and pedal bike, a double walker and a sky stepper. These pieces of equipment will impact on our children’s fitness levels with the aim to inspire our children to keep fit long after they have left The Hayes- we will inspire a passion. Government findings from national projections (based on Health Survey for England data 1993-2004) show that by 2050 a quarter of young people under 20 years of age will be obese. We at the Hayes aim to increase the children’s love of a healthy lifestyle and promote them exercising from a young age. This equipment will help us to access another form of exercise in a fun environment on a regular basis.

We hope you are having a relaxing weekend. See you all tomorrow.

The Hayes team.
